Sustainable
Architecture
|
This course explores the different aspects of
sustainability, known as the 3’Es; Environment, Energy, and Equity. It uses
examples of vernacular and contemporary architecture to illustrate successful
applications of sustainable strategies. The course consists of a series of
lectures and short applications to enhance the students’ understanding of the
subject matter.

Climate-Responsive
Architecture
|
The course’s starts with an introduction to the broad
issue of sustainability, then analysis of vernacular architecture examples
and ends with integrating the subjects of climate, people and buildings. The
course consists of a series of lectures and short applications to enhance the
students’ understanding of the subject matter.

Green Buildings
|
The course focuses on Green Buildings strategies as
important part of sustainable architecture. It starts with an introduction to
the broad issue of sustainability, then analysis of Green Buildings
strategies. The course consists of a series of lectures and short
applications to enhance the students’ understanding of the subject matter.

Green Design Studio
|
The course is an application of Green Buildings strategies
using a design project. It builds on knowledge acquired in Green Buildings
course. The course is studio based and utilizes a PBL approach to enhance the
students’ abilities to apply Greed Buildings strategies on real projects.

Integrated Design Studio
|
The IDS combines architectural and with engineering approaches
in order to achieve an inter-disciplinary and holistic approach to
environmental sustainable architecture. Addressing the issues of
sustainability in the early stages of
the design process and from different perspectives ensures the achievement of
a more successful results..

Building Performance
Evaluation
|
The
course introduces the principles of BPE; the building performance concept,
measuring performance; elements of building performance: spatial, technological,
and technical criteria, total indoor environmental quality (TIEQ), the POE process
model: planning, conducting and implementing BPE; and case studies.
